I'm who teams call when they're blocked and can't see why.

Twenty years debugging hard systems taught me that the problems which stay hidden longest are the ones no single layer owns: cost and security. UnblockedOps exists to drag them into the light.

Why I do this

[Placeholder, origin story to come.] The short version: somewhere along the way I stopped being the person who fixed the bug and became the person who found the one nobody else could see. This is where that story goes.

Twenty years of hidden problems

The Fundamental Theorem of Software Engineering states that "any problem in computer science can be solved with another level of indirection." Twenty years of debugging hard systems taught me the corollary: every layer that solves a problem turns the layer beneath it into a hiding place for more problems.

I've spent my career chasing those hidden problems through healthcare, government, research, and enterprise. They've hidden in kernel drivers and firmware, in compilers, in data pipelines carrying records for millions of patients, in cloud networks and identity systems, and in the GPU clusters and Kubernetes platforms where AI runs in production today. They've hidden in the human layer too: an unspoken assumption about the system or its environment, or two teams talking past each other, using the same words without realizing they meant different things. I've been the one people call when they're blocked by problems like these.

The problems that hide best aren't the functional bugs you can chase with a debugger or hand to an AI. They're cost and security, the properties of the whole system that no single layer owns and no contract covers. They pile up out of sight and show up late, in the bill or in the security review stalling your biggest deal. The Diagnostic exists to do for them what I've always done across the stack: find the layers where the problems are hiding, and put a number and an owner on the fix.
